Bonga Agricultural Research Centre (BARC) was established in 1997 EC by South Nation Nationality people regional state government, south agricultural research institute (SARI). Currently BARC has seven testing sites Modiyo, Alargeta, Gojeb in Kaffa Zone; Otowa and Berji in Bench Sheko Zone and Gada and Gatimo in Sheka Zone. The research center is mandated to coffee, Tea, wheat, highland pulse crops, Fruit, Enset, potato, Soil integrated fertility and acidity management and Bonga Sheep regionally.
